Sheer Love

Some of you may have been following along my curtain journey on Instagram. After being in my home for three years, we finally decided to add Sheers to our Void window and Kids Bedrooms with Curtain World.

The Void

This window is over two-storeys, 5m long and looks out into our internal garden with a Japanese Maple. Recently, the neighbours cut down a couple of trees and we needed an option for privacy. This was the catalyst for finding a good solution for this window. I contacted Curtain World to see what they could do, they’ve been around for over 40 years in Perth so I figured they would have some ideas for me! They were also having a Winter sale and I’m all about saving a little cash!

The lovely Julie came out to quote for me – my brief was grey and sheer but still provide some privacy when the lights were on at night time. Julie showed me the thickest sheer she had in this lovely grey fabric – it was perfect! Another bonus was that she said we could do it without motorisation (which can be quite pricey $$).

I organised scaffolding so the installer could reach the height of the window. He was such a gun on the day making climbing up and down that scaffold and installing the Sheers look so easy. He knew what he was doing and did it with a smile which is always nice!

The results below really speak for themselves! I couldn’t be happier. It has added some warmth to the space, softened the harshness of the window frames and they are so light and easy to open/close. They create a real WOW factor in this entry space!

The lowdown:

  • Moreno Sheer
  • Colour – Spectra
  • S Wave on Silver Rail
  • Cost approx $900 (Sale Price)

The Kids Rooms

When we built our house, we added blockout blinds to all the kids rooms but always wanted Sheers. The kids were three, two and 8 months old… this was why I didn’t install them straight away. There had been too many incidents in our household with textas, crayons, toilet cleaner… the list goes on. Fast forward three years and I finally feel like the kids are responsible enough to keep away from their curtains with harmful substances… let’s hope I’m not eating my words!

As Curtain World were already coming out to measure the Void window, I had them measure and quote on all the kids rooms. When I received the sale prices back, I had to go ahead and book them in!

I chose white sheers for the girls’ rooms and a light grey for my son’s room. See the results below – I feel like each room looks like a little boutique hotel room! They have definitely softened the rooms. It’s that final piece of the puzzle that makes the rooms complete.

The lowdown:

  • Sensory Sheer
  • Colour – White (Girls Rooms) & Platinum (Boys Room)
  • S Wave on Silver Rail
  • Cost approx $800 each (Sale Price)

The Curtain World Winter Sale is on until the end of August if you’re keen to get some savings on your Curtains, Blinds or Shutters.

Thanks for tuning in! Until next time…

INSPIRED ITEMS – Kids Room Refresh

I’m slowly getting through updating my home for Spring! Next up is my 4 year old daughter Stella’s room. Stella is a little princess and loves the colour pink. This can be a bit overwhelming so to refresh the room I’ve added a bright patterned coverlet.

This gorgeous patterned Holly coverlet is from Lorraine Lea. It instantly brightens up her room and I just love how the blue and yellow breaks up the pink.  It’s lightweight which is a great replacement for a quilt in the warmer months. I’ve styled it with the Calais throw in blush to complement her bed canopy.

The coverlet would work for girls right up into tween age with different colour sheets, pillows or throw. Overall, this new look got the tick of approval from my princess… if she’s happy then I’m happy!

Some other ideas to refresh your child’s room this Spring:

  • Be adventurous with a patterned wall decal.
  • Change your lamp shade for a pop of colour.
  • Add a bed canopy to soften the room.
  • Paint their room a different colour.
  • Add a textured rug.
  • Swap a standard bayonet light for a pendant.
  • Use their artwork to create a new wall print.

It’s so easy to create a fresh look in your child’s room. There are many other beautiful linen options from Lorraine Lea available now. View their latest catalogue here or to order, contact your nearest Lorraine Lea Stylist.

INSPIRED ITEMS – Spring Bedroom

Want to create an idyllic Spring bedroom?

Spring time has me wanting a brighter and lighter home. The first place I start is my bedroom and the easiest way to reflect a change in season is to update your bed with fresh linen. Nothing says Spring more than florals! I recently found this gorgeous Chantelle quilt cover from Lorraine Lea.

It changed the look of the room in an instant! I am loving the soft and feminine feel it gives to my Master Bedroom. My husband doesn’t have much input on the decor around here but he actually commented on how much he liked the soft feel of the new quilt cover! #winning

See the Chantelle quilt cover here.

I’ve styled it above with the Cotton Pillowcases in Pink and Calais Throw in Blush. If this is too much pink for your partner then simply go for a different look with the Cotton Pillowcases and Calais Throw in Grey (below).

The Calais throw is so versatile and a staple piece that can be used on a bed, chair or sofa. Below I’ve used on my side chair with the Chantelle cushion cover.

Hopefully I’ve INSPIRED you to create a fresh Spring look in your own home. There are so many other beautiful linen options from Lorraine Lea available now. View their latest catalogue here or to order, contact your nearest Lorraine Lea Stylist.

INSPIRED ITEMS – the Timber Base sofa!

Are you looking for a quality new sofa?

About a year ago I was on the hunt for a timber base sofa that didn’t cost an arm and a leg and couldn’t find anything! Fast forward one year and I’ve spotted this hot new range of Monica timber base sofas at Amart Furniture.

588240001_020_06072017

I love the walnut timber base as it adds a designer touch to an ordinary sofa. The clean lines give it a classic but modern look that will last for years. The Monica range is available in a 2 seater and  2.5 seater option and backed by a 7 year guarantee.

If you have a larger space and need a sofa fit for a family or all your friends to lounge around on then check out the chaise version. At just under 3m it would look great in a large open plan living area or theatre room.

588230001_20_06202017

The Monica range is available in two colours, light blue and light grey in a beautiful textured linen fabric. The sofas would work well with a variety of styles including Coastal, Hamptons, Boho, Modern and Scandinavian. The light blue pictured here looks fantastic in this modern coastal setting with feature artwork, greenery and soft furnishings.

588220002_002_07062017

The light grey would also look fantastic in an Industrial style home by contrasting with charcoal cushions, a textured throw, monochrome artwork and a stylish black lamp. Just use your imagination!

So if you’ve been looking for a great quality sofa at an affordable price for a while, I’d recommend you stop now and go take a look at Amart Furniture.

One last tip – I always get fabric protection with any upholstered furniture. As a mum of 3, it always gives me peace of mind and I couldn’t buy a fabric sofa without it!
